Religious Education Certification Reimbursement Fund
Purpose: To financially support elementary school teachers and religious education catechists (PSR, Faith Formation, Family Faith, etc.) in obtaining initial catechist/teacher religious education certification.
Elementary school teachers and religious education catechists may apply to receive fee reimbursement for successfully completed certification courses required by the Archdiocese of St. Louis through the University of Dayton (VLCFF) and/or University of Notre Dame (STEP) until certification coursework is complete (6 courses). The fee for one certification course = $50.00. Teachers/Catechists are financially responsible for course materials.
Special Note: Reimbursements will be granted for courses taken from October 2022 forward only, and on a first-come, first-served basis while funding is available.
Archdiocese of St. Louis required religion certification courses for teachers/catechists:
Take one course from each competency area (6 total), either from Dayton OR Notre Dame.
It is suggested that you take the RE and ST courses before taking the other courses
To apply for reimbursement:
-
Teacher/Catechist enrolls in a University of Dayton (VLCFF) and/or University of Notre Dame (STEP) required certification course and pays the fee.
-
Teacher/Catechist completes the Religious Education Certification Reimbursement Fund online application prior to the first day of the course (application can be found below).
-
Upon notification from the University of Dayton (VLCFF) and/or University of Notre Dame (STEP) of the required certification course, the Office of Catholic Education and Formation will verify the teacher’s/catechist’s successful completion of the course and reimburse the teacher/catechist for the course fee.
Special Note: Reimbursements will be granted on a first come, first served basis while funding is available.
